Romeo and Juliet
In the play 'Romeo and Juliet' shakespeare chose to use so many oppositions. This allowed for the whole love scene to be created, yet at the same time interrupted by obstacles. This is evident in the prologue when it says "A pair of star-cross'd lovers" and "the continuance of their parents' rage". This language and use of words widely appeal to the audience as love and hate are the main themes in this play and are experienced by many people in the society today. Therefore it is relevent for shakespear to use so many opposition as it relates to modern life. Therefore shakespear chose to use so many opossitions because it alows for a potential story, meaningful message and it appeals to the audience very much.

My version of femininity
My name is Jaime-Lee Bradford and I am a kind woman with a twisted version of femininity. This is represented by my values, the things I do and the way I act. My version of femininity is extremely difficult as I basically lead two different path ways. At times I can be the careless, have fun woman, yet at the same time controlling, smart, responsible woman. For example, when times are not busy, when I am around other people and when I have opportunities to have fun I will. I am someone who will let go for a night and have an extremely memorable night, stereotypically not caring about anyone but myself. However other times I can be an extremely controlling, smart and responsible woman. When I am at school, at work, anywhere and I know it is time to work hard and be responsible I will. For example during test week at school, I am there to focus and concentrate on every lesson possible. Also on weekends, say the weekend before test block, I am responsible and I study hard. I banned myself from parties and other distractions. Yet one value I have for both pathways is kindness. No matter what pathway I am leading that day I will always be kind, as I believe being angry is just a waste of time. Therefore I am constructed as a woman who is kind, but has two different complex versions of femininity.

Andrea Sachs paragraph
Andrea Sachs is an extremely intelligent woman. Andrea’s version of femininity is represented in the film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. Andrea goes through a transition from being herself to being someone she is not and never wanted to be. As herself, she represents a woman, who has no sense of style, is strong willed and confident. This is the real Andrea everyone liked. Whereas as the film goes on Andrea changes and transforms into a woman with extremely stylish fashion, nervous, low self esteem and work obsessed women. Therefore Andrea is constructed as a woman who leads two different pathways, one that is good and one that is bad. Andrea’s version of femininity is represented in the movie ‘The devil Wears Prada’ in a difficult way, as there is two versions constructed.

Version of Femininity essay paragraph
The film “The devil wears Prada” clearly shows two different versions of femininity, Andy’s and other women that surround her. Andy represents a real care free version of femininity, as they represent her as daggy, tomboy, sty-less, and normal everyday person. Whereas the other women are represented as people who care immensely about themselves, as they represent them as stylish, sexy and self obsessed. Andy and the other women’s version of femininity are supported by the film techniques they use. With Andy they use old underwear; whereas with other women they have used nice, elegant laundry. When the camera is on the other women, the camera shows from the shoes upwards, this represents their power and style. Whereas when the camera is on Andy it travels from top to bottom, which is showing us that she is someone who doesn’t care. To show Andy’s version of femininity, the camera zooms up on her when she is brushing her teeth, where as the camera zooms up on other women when they are putting on makeup on and sexy laundry. The two versions of femininity are clearly shown throughout the film by the film techniques.

My story :)
What is the crowd/group?
The crowd I am focusing on in my story is a group of popular school girls. In fact these girls only associate with the people are considered a member of their group.
What does the group value?
The group values are not to associate with people who are not apart of their group, not to respect others or talk to them, and to treat everyone else like they are invisible.
How does the hero challenge the values?
The hero challenges the values by going against her own crowd. She becomes friends with the so called “Nerdy, weird” girl at school, and has the exact opposite values to her group.

The theme " The Early Years"
This universal theme focuses on the pointg that heroes are not what you think they are. At the beginning the theme was heroism then as Jason begins to change (the power going to his head) the theme begins to change. Telling readers to not let power or heroism change you.

Question
This means to stand up for what you believe in and not care what the crowd thinks. The phrase "go against the crowd" means that you go against what the crowd is saying, doing etc. You be the heroic individual and be difference. You be the one to make a difference and become completely unique. This phrase is extremely important in life because it means doing what you personally believe and being your true self, not just following what everyone else is doing.
Image Analysis

The setting of this image is outside the back of a building, captured during the day. There are no individuals in this picture, but it does show where the white people must drink and doesn’t have a spot for the coloured people to drink. Therefore this shows that the coloured people were incredibly invisible to most of the community. The image shows very poor features. The walls are tacky, everything looks extremely old, the directions are written in chalk by hand writing, and it overall looks like the area is unhygienic. This photograph has a very negative perspective on life, as it presents dark with a heavy feeling.

ENGLISH LETTER :) 1930'S
ENGLISH LETTER :) 1930'S
Dear Cassie Hoskins,
I am currently living in the 1930s and wow, it is vastly different than anything you are familiar with in 2010. My house is in a pair; however they do not look the same. My house has a different porch, compared to the other house, but the internal layout is basically the same. Our living space is extremely small, with a hall leading to the living room, dining room and kitchen. My house is two stories and up stairs I have three bedrooms and an internal bathroom. The walls are red brick, pebbledash and half timbering with red clay tile roofs and tile hung walls. The backyard of my house consists of several plants and trees. It is very home-like and makes my family and I feel very comfortable. Although, my family is doing it extremely hard, as society is going through major depression, so life is really hard at the moment.
My family and I have not done any family activities for ages now, as they are at work day and night trying to get through this tough time. My parents work at the bakery down town as a full time job, they are there from 6 in the morning to at least 8 at night. They receive very little pay, as we struggle to survive each and everyday. In other words we have a poor standard of living. I live next to some very kind people and scary people too. My neighbor is extremely friendly and always polite; however the man that lives opposite us never comes out of his house. It is like he is chained up inside, and everyone is scared to go there. Who knows what could happen to you? So we have a fairly common community, with some strange aspects. The houses are pretty close together, and are surrounded with vegetation. The roads are very narrow and it is an old looking area.
My school is very poor; we have to write everything with hand, there are no computers, books or playgrounds. I have some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for:
We are currently experiencing an economic depression and it’s so bad that one American Worker in every four was out of a job. World War I has exhausted people. Grief, loss, and hard work made us people ready for a change. When the stock market crashed a year ago all the economy’s weaknesses have become clear. This was not, however, the start of the Great Depression but just a signal of its onset. I don’t like the fashion at the moment, my mother wears long dresses, with sleeves and my father wears a suit with a brimmed hat and I wear long overalls.
When you receive this Cassie Hoskins please write back to me, I would love to know what 2010 is like.
Love you
Jaime Bradford
