Role: Beatrice’s role is a middle age women, who is cozens with Hero. She is very protective and

takes care of Hero. She is a stubborn woman to Benedick, who she eventually falls in love with.

Relationship: She is cozens with Hero and Benedick is her fiancé. Beatrice is Leonato’s niece.

2. What themes the character helps to demonstrate and how they achieve this

Beatrice helps to demonstrate anger in this play. She achieves this because when ever she talks to Benedick she is always angry. She always has a angry look on her face and when she speaks she always speaks with angry tone.

The quote: " “In our last conflict four of his five wits went halting off, and now is the man governed with one” (I, i, 62-4)." This is Beatrice talking to Leonato about Benedick. This quote basically says Benedick is trying to insult her but it is not working. This shows she is a strong woman.
