Role: Don John's role in this play is evil. He is the attention seeker and if he does not get the attention he wants, he will do something bad so someone else suffers.
Relationship: He is te bastard brother of Don Pedro. Borachio and Conrade are his followers.
2. What themes the character helps to demonstrate and how they achieve this.
This character helps to demonstrate the jelousy theme in this play. Don John is jealous of Claudio and all the attention he was receiving. There was evidence of jealousy between Don John and his brother Don Pedro (Don John is jealous of the respect and admiration, etc that Don Pedro receives because of his position).
3. Relevant quotes and examples from the plot that are significant to this character, you should already have some from the previous exercise but you can continue to add to these. Be aware that you don't simply have to use quotes that the character says, you should also consider things others say about them. Make sure that you explain the quotes, don't just list quotes and rely on them to explain themselves.
The quote: “I must be said when I have cause, and smile at no man’s jests; eat when I have stomach, and wait for no man’s leisure”. He is basically saying that when he has done something wrong he must be sad and when he is hungry he must eat, he must not wait.
